A tool to create phone applications
I didn’t learn how to code or program, and I’m not claiming I can create a phone app for Android by myself. However, phone applications are my passion, and I’d love to be able to do so. That’s why I gave it a try using Infinite Monkeys, an internet application that lets each of us make his own phone app. Infinite Monkeys manages to give us this chance even if we have no idea how to program. How does it manage this?
1/ A tool usable on iPhones and Androids
Yes, it’s a web tool that you use online. Because of this, you can use it on an Android, iPhone, or even a digital tablet.
2/ Interconnection with social networks
This web interface lets us incorporate the content we’ve already published on social networks or even other blogs or other platforms, like Flickr.com, for instance. Because of this, you can use it to share private content or for commercial purposes.
3/ Total freedom
You’re the one that decides what you want to share with your public: photos, videos, tweets, etc. You can create your own mobile app in less than half an hour after a few tries!
4/ User instructions
Everything can be done with the mouse:
- choose the color of your wallpaper
- click and drag the type of content you want to share
- also click and drag the functions you want to include in your app
- And there you go!
5/ A free app or a paying one?
The basic version of the application is free:
- it only lets you publish your app on internet browsers based on HTML5
- it will show ads
- it will be open to the whole public, no “private” function
- it doesn’t let you sell your app
- If you want more, you’ll have to get the paying version of Infinite Monkeys.
6/ How does the private feature work?
By simply setting up a password. People you send the app to will have to enter a password to be able to access your content. Without this password, the app will stay locked.
7/ A company with a sense of humor
As the video below proves, the Infinite Monkeys company has a sense of humor, as it invents ludicrous origins for its tool: it shows monkeys and chimpanzees discovering tools and creating smartphones until they fashion phone applications with their own hands. How can you you not enjoy this sarcastic spirit?
